GM will build a Cadillac factory in China

Almost every industry wants to start or to move to China and the auto industry is not an exception. All carmakers want to star selling cars to the full potential of what they think the flourishing market is capable of handling. Time has come for American manufacturer General Motors to move here. At the beginning of this week the specialist has received approval to build a factory in China. In order to manufacturer Cadillac-branded luxury automobiles for the local market, the carmaker only builds the XTS locally and that is all. the American specialists have a lot oh hopes built up for the new plant which is expected to have an annual capacity of 150.000 units. The tooling and construction of the factory will set them back some $1.3 billion. This measure has been taken by Cadillac in order to avoid the 25 % import duty, following in the footsteps of other premium automakers like for example, Germans BMW and Audi. No doubt about it, Cadillac will have a lot of work to do and it will be very hard to catch up, but nothing is impossible. It will be even more difficult as it only managed to sell 30.010 units in China, whereas Audi shifted 405.838 units. Next on the list was the Bavarian manufacturer BMW with 327.341 units and Mercedes-Benz with 196.211. It is not really clear which models are going to be built at the new plant in China and we also do not know if any special long-wheelbase versions will be produced here, but considering that other manufacturers have them, it might happen. The ATS is a possibility, but we will know more soon, hopefully.
