Honda returns to Formula 1

Honda carmaker confirmed its return to the sport after a few years now since exiting the Formula One grid in 2008. The motorsport division of the automaker will bring back to life one of the most successful F1 partnerships of our days. It seems that the Japanese manufacturer will return in 2015 as an engine supplier for the McLaren F1 team. For sure the specialists will manage to do a great job. If we take a look back we can see that in the past, the two managed to obtain great success, especially at the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s. Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost have won eight championships and 44 Grand Prix, managing to also take 53 pole positions and setting 30 fastest laps. In an interview, Honda declared that it will build, manufacture and supply a new 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine that will also include an energy recovery system. The British manufacturer will also be responsible for the development and production of the chassis. McLaren will also manage the new team which is called McLaren Honda. The reason why the new engine will have energy recovery system is because starting with next year this will be the new F1 regulation. This is why the 1.6-liter direct injection turbocharged V6 engine will come with it.

Honda managed to grow taking challenges in racing. It has a long history of advancing their technologies participating in the most prestigious automobile racing series in the world. The new F1 regulations with their significant environmental focus will have the chance to inspire even greater development for their own advanced technologies. FIA president in a declaration said that he is very happy to hear that Honda will be part of the McLaren Formula 1 team starting 2015.
