Mercedes-Benz offered 500 LEDs to their S-Class

Years ago, all illumination aside from the basic exterior lights was either optional of not available at all. Now all carmaker offers light bulbs in different places in the case as standard like for example, the passenger compartment, glove box and even dials. Costs for manufacturing methods and automation dropped a lot and so everyone can afford it. Germans from Mercedes-Benz are very happy to announce that they are thinking about giving up using the conventional bulbs, all of which have been replaced with models LEDs in their latest W222 S-Class, for example. We do not know yet if this is useful or it is only a marketing scheme to make the car seem different and modern capable of attracting many people. Mercedes-Benz has come up with an argument sustaining the last option, of course. According to them, approximately 500 diodes are being used inside and out and will provide the same or a better level of luminosity and less electricity. The difference can be so big that it might even affect the fuel efficiency and emissions by around 0.05 liters per 100 km and 2.1 g/km CO2, respectively. The interior illumination package that fills the cabin with diodes will use a fair share of electricity and so it probably needs to ne turned down to even hope achieving the numbers mentioned above. The integration of LEDs into the headlights which can be fitted as an optional extra with Adaptive High beam Assist Plus, mean that the drive can used the high beams permanently without blinding another driver. When the model is stationed at night at a set of traffic lights, the brake lights and indicators will be dimmed down not to dazzle other driver. The LEDs are much more visible at night especially if they are the very bright kind.
