The McLaren 12C and 12C Spider turn 50

British carmaker McLaren has started producing an anniversary edition of the 12C and the 12C Spider as the two turn 50. The models will be built as limited editions and so, only 50 units for each will see the light of the day. The commemorative editions are called McLaren 50 12C and will come with styling tweaks and enhanced specifications. The models will be produced by the division responsible for the bespoke projects of the company, the McLaren Special Operations. Both will come with a remodeled, CFD-optimized front bumper inspired by the limited-run HS Edition models. So that you know, the lower section of the bumper that surrounds the air intakes is made of carbon fiber and the front floor is made of race-derived carbon Kevlar. On the bonnet it features a black McLaren F1-inspired heritage badge and both models are equipped a standard with carbon ceramic brakes with 394 x 36 mm discs at the front and 380 x 34 mm at the rear. To transfer the output to the road, the engineers have provided Ultra Lightweight wheels covered in satin black paint at the from measuring 19-inch and 20-inch at the rear. These are in fact 2 kg lighter in comparison to the Super Lightweight wheels.



In terms of interior, the new McLaren 12C and 12C Spider come with full leather upholstery, floor mats and carbon fiber sill panes with subtle branding. This is not all. The carmaker will also provide an anniversary plate on the door of the driver. The 12C models will be available in three colors: Carbon Black, McLaren Orange of Supernova Silver. Each of the units will come with a monogrammed black and silver car cover, a specially commissioned print signed by Frank Stephenson, carbon fiber presentation key box and a limited edition key. The coupe version will have a starting price of GBP196.000 and the roadster will cost GBP215.500.
