Tesla Motors announced that a lower cost crossover SUV is next to come

As Nissan launched a 2013 Leaf model destined for the Japanese market followed after a Leaf version destined for the U.S. market that has several key improvements comparing to the Japanese version, better range, faster charging capabilities, a more efficient cabin heater, and a lower starting price the competition must come with some updates too.

To rival with the five-door hatchback electric car Nissan Leaf (Leaf comes from Leading, Environmentally friendly, Affordable, Family car) the Silicon Valley-based company Tesla Motors announced that a lower cost crossover SUV is coming up soon. In auto market soon means a time interval of three to four years according to Elon Musks the co-founder of Tesla Motors. With an electric motor driven by an alternating current descended directly from Tesla's original 1882 design, the crossover SUV will be cheaper than the 2013 Tesla Model S that is priced for at least $60,000 compared to the current generation Nissan Leaf that costs almost $29,000.

The new compact crossover will be built on the same platform as the previous sedan version and will feature design elements from the X Model that blend perfect benefits of a minivan and an EV product. The officials promised that the next affordable Tesla model will be a totally new electric car with a range of about 200 miles and a price tag of under $40,000.
