Volkswagen Taigun due to 2016

Volkswagen, the company set in Germany, is one of the world’s leading automobile car makers and it is for sure the most important manufacturer in Europe. In 2012, VW increased the number of vehicles delivered to customers, meaning the success still exists although the economical crisis has affected the company, too. Hoping for a future success, the German brand creates a new concept, the Volkswagen Taigun.

The Volkswagen Taigun concept was presented at the 2012 Sao Paolo Motor Show and as time goes by there are news coming about the future production model. Rumours say that the Taigun will be launched in 2016 and will have as a base the Golf or the Up!. The Up! platform seems to have more chances to be used as it can keep reduced costs and this will allow the company to build the much dreamed Polo crossover, too.

The Volkswagen Taigun concept presented at Sao Paolo was powered by a 1.0-liter TSI engine generating 110 HP (81 kW) and 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) of torque. This allows the 985 kg (2172 lb) crossover to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 9.2 seconds, to reach a maximum speed of 186 km/h (116 mph) and average almost 4.5 L/100km (52.2 mpg US / 62.7 mpg UK). The production model could have various engine configurations as well as both front wheel and all wheel drive. The Taigun will have a starting price of €15,000.
