Nissan ZEOD RC revealed

Electrical and hybrid cars are being more and more necessary in the auto field, especially since lately everybody seems to be keen on environmental friendly products. HEVs offer an innovative, efficient and affordable option in our 21st century. After years of ‘on the road’ testing, gas electric hybrid cars have become a practical choice for consumers. Every respectable brand tries to come up with a HEV, even though it is just for the trend’s sake. One of these brands Is Nissan, company which set as a goal creating a hybrid race car to compete in the 2014 competition 24 Hours of Le Mans. And this is the Nissan ZEOD RC.

The Nissan ZEOD RC is not a name chosen accidentally. ZEOD symbolizes “zero emissions on demand”. The car has just been introduced by the Japanese company and it is powered by an electric motor that works together with a regular fuel one. No further details were offered because the car is still submitted to testing. A number of powertrain combinations are being tried, and the process will continue for a couple of months.  These powertrain testing options are possible thanks to the flexible platform Nisan set on the ZEOD.

The Nissan ZEOD RC will most likely borrow the battery system of the Leaf, although it will suffer some upgrades that should give much more power to the vehicle. A regenerative braking system will surely be used to recharge the battery pack when needed. In 2014, the Nissan ZEOD RC will compete in Le Mans in its final configuration.
