Volvo will be able to park itself

Everybody has heard of autonomous driving lately, but the really interesting thing is when it comes to autonomous parking. It seems that Volvo thought about this and has decided to develop the technology that will make autonomous parking a reality, if not for now, for the future for sure. We are sure that a lot of divers will appreciate the feature. Next we will tell you about a Volvo V40 prototype fitted with the technology able to find and park in a vacant space by itself, without the driver inside which is quite impressive, right? The carmaker declared that the driverless car will interact in a safe and smooth mode when it comes to other cars and pedestrians in the car park. Senior Safety Advisor for Volvo Car Group explains that autonomous parking is actually a concept technology that relieves the driver of the time-consuming task of finding a vacant parking space. What the driver needs to do is leave the car off at the entrance of the car park and pick it up from the same place when he returns. You may ask: how does it work? According to the specialists the service is available where there are transmitters in the road infrastructure. If this is the case, vehicle 2 infrastructure informs the driver that the car can park itself. To activate the autonomous function, the driver only needs to us a phone application and done! The technology includes sensors used to localize and navigate to a free parking space, with the procedure being reversed when the driver comes back to pick up the car. The carmaker believes the technology will arrive in production cars sooner than expected.
