Chances are the Renault Laguna and Espace will not be available in the UK

It is not for sure yet, but different rumors indicate the fact that the next-generation Laguna and Espace developed by French carmaker Renault will not be available on the British market. For example, as all of you already know, the current generations of both models have been excluded from the UK dealerships belonging to Renault back in December 2011. This method was applied in order to diminish dealership network and so, regain profitability. When it comes to the new generation models, well, as stated before, might not be on the UK market. These will use the CMF architecture, but not for our fellow islanders. The final decision will belong to UK chief, Ken Ramirez, according to chief operating officer Carlos Tavares. According to the man, the company had a lot of cars and this can sometimes be counter-productive, and we do have to agree. Tavares is a bit worried that the UK branch of Renault will not have the necessary budget to promote in an efficient way the two new models. Nothing is for sure now, but from what we do know so far is that the new Laguna will have a powerful character, but that it will not be strange, Tavares declared. The man is aware of the lack of popularity of the previous generation and to the fact that the design was the one to blame, mainly the rear. When it comes to the Espace and its replacement, according to the specialists, the model will be a combination between a minivan and a crossover. Renault might launch a concept in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show and also a facelift version of the Megane. The company has to invest around EUR420 million for the factory in northern France, where the Espace and the Laguna will be built.
