Toyota expands the Indiana plant

Toyota is a Japanese company that thinks big. It has good unique ideas to create exciting cars.  The 2014 New York Auto Show hosted the premiere of the mid-size SUV, the 2014 Toyota Highlander. This is being produced at the Indiana plant, in the U.S.

Indiana is a highly developed area regarding car production. And it seems to be getting more and more important for the car makers. Subaru has decided to invest $400 million in its Lafayette plant from Indiana. They wish to increase production capacity to 300,000 units per year and this also means 900 new jobs. Not far from the Subaru factory, Toyota has its Princeton plant which is also responsible for manufacturing the Camry.

Toyota officials have recently stated that, thanks to the growing demand for Toyota Highlander, they are planning to increase production in the company's Princeton, Indiana plant. Some investments have been made in 2012 which have allowed an increase in production from 300,000 units to 350,000. The new investments from this year will grow production by 15,000 units, this meaning a number of 200 extra jobs. The Indiana plant produces the updated Highlander, Sequoia and Sienna.
