Fiat and Chrysler give up on electric vehicles and hybrids

Electric cars are something that appears in the news all the time lately. There is an entire trend of creating eco-friendly cars in the auto field. There are several reasons why interest in these vehicles convinced even the biggest car producers to enter the trend. Electric cars create less pollution than the fuel powered counterparts offering an environmentally friendly alternative to them, especially for life in the city. The Fiat- Chrysler team has been among the first companies that began to work on electric vehicles.

The Fiat-Chrysler company officials have recently had the courage to admit that they will suspend any creation of electric or hybrid cars. The investments in these types of cars are not being materialized because the people are not ready yet to pay for all the necessary technology this sort of cars require. Bob Lee, one of the company’s officials, explains that there are many people who want to reduce CO2 emissions and who are aware of the impact they have on the environment but they are not ready to change the lifestyle or to pay extra money in order to buy an electric vehicle. Instead of producing EVs, the company will focus on creating more turbocharged and diesel engines. We’ll follow the Fiat-Chrysler evolution, but when it comes to their EVs it seems they will be away for a long time.
