Tesla Model S is safe according to NHTSA

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Tesla Motors is the manufacturer of the safest car so far developed by them. Of course, we are talking about the Tesla model S. The company awarded the model with a 5-star safety rating, in every category, not overall. Now, of all the vehicles that have been tested and we are also talking about every major make and model approved for sale in the US, the Model S managed to set new record in terms of safety. The interesting thing is that the new Tesla Model S is a sedan, but exceeded the safety score of all SUVs and minivans. The scores refer to the probability of injury from front, side and rollover accidents. The best thing about the model is that it does not have a large gasoline engine block in the front and so it creates a longer crumple zone to absorb a high speed impact. The motor of the model is a foot in diameter and is mounted closer to the rear axle and the front section is used for a second trunk. This section is normally used as a gasoline engine, but not with the Tesla Model S. The carmaker managed to get these great results thanks to the multiple deep aluminum extrusions in the side rail of the car that absorb the impact energy and transfer load to the rest of the vehicle. There was the rear crash testing which was very important. For this, the manufacturer installed a double bumper if the third row seat is ordered. This was necessary for protection against a highway speed impact in the rear with no disabling injury to the third row occupants. Just for future reference, the third row is already the safest location in the car for frontal or side injuries.
