NASCAR has developed new tire technology

Especially for the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series races that took place in Atlanta this last weekend, Goodyear Eagle developed special tires that have as base consumer tire technology. This even marks the introduction of its Multi-Zone Tread Technology, which combines two different rubber compounds in a single tread. This way the new development will manage to handle the difficult conditions found at NASCAR. The engineers from Goodyear were determined to develop a tire capable of offering both superior traction and wear-two typically opposing properties. The idea came from the Assurance Triple Tread All-Season passenger tire. They have started the concept of multiple tread zones in auto tires, featuring three distinct zones for superior traction in wet, icy and dry conditions as well. NASCAR tire uses two tread zones: an Endurance Zone on the inside of the tire to help manage wear for enhanced durability on the track and Traction Zone for the outside of the tire to increase grip for better handling. So that you know, Goodyear has tested the Multi-Zone Tread tire several times in the last few yeas and the last time was at the 13 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams that put the tire through its paces with very positive results. Now, after this weekend, Goodyear is also thinking about developing tires that have a Multi-Zone Tread for additional tracks on the NASCAR schedule. The specialists will offer more details will be offered for the public soon.
