The 2013 BMW i8 will be released soon

This year at the 2013 edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Bavarians from BMW are ready to release a new model. Actually two are on the way and we are in fact talking about the production versions of the i3 electric vehicle supermini and i8 plug-in hybrid sports car. If you remember, we already had the opportunity to see the production version of the BMW i3 when the carmaker revealed it in August. In the photo gallery you can find several photos of the new and future i8 sports car that is going to be revealed this in only a couple of days. The photos include the profile of the car and also the interior as you can see. It appears to be a bit different from the concept version presented two years ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The production version of the model has smaller doors and as expected, no longer has smaller doors made entirely of glass. In terms of profile, as you can see, it looks a bit slick and it looks more normal than in comparison to the concept. The dashboard is also a bit different, but keeps the shape of the center console, steering wheel and instrument panel. Both models might come with a turbocharged 3-cylinder 1.5-liter engine capable of generating 228 horsepower. It also has a 6-speed automatic transmission to transfer the output to the road. There is also an electric motor available capable of generating 129 horsepower that go directly to the front wheels. There is also an integrated two-stage automatic transmission available. The two power systems have a combined output of 357 horsepower and 420 lb. ft. of torque. So that you know, there is a lithium-ion battery that can be recharged through a standard household power socket. The all-electric range for the i8 is 22 miles and the total driving range is 310 miles. The output enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4.5 seconds and the fuel consumption reaches 2.5 liters per km.
