Icona Vulcano approaching production stage

Icona is an Italian design house headquartered in China. And the Asian country is the place where Icona Vulcano has been designed and revealed for the first time. The supercar segment is crowded enough. Still this hasn’t stopped the Icona officials to state that the firm is working with some investors to finally produce the vehicle which is going to battle the Lamborghini Aventador, the Bugatti Veyron or the McLaren Mp4-12.

If the Icona Vulcano reaches production, it will come out in a limited number of units. The company will offer two types of engine configurations for the supercar. The first and at the same time the most impressive is a front-mounted V12 engine that will work together with an electric engine helping to deliver a claimed 950hp. The Icona Vulcano can also be equipped with a much smaller and less powerful V6 engine.

The Icona Vulcano will be produced for two different purposes. First, it will be used legally on the roads and second, it will be used on tracks. What is interesting is the fact the most powerful engine will delight regular drivers and the least impressive mill will power the race vehicle. In other words, the road-going model will be powered by the V12 950hp Vulcano, while the racing version will be powered by the small V6 engine that will be mated with two electric motors and together will have an extremely impressive 870hp. The vehicle is a supercar indeed but it remains to be seen how much success it will have in its segment.
