Brabus tunes Mercedes S-class for Frankfurt

Brabus is known for turning Mercedes-Benz vehicles into absolute road rockets.

In the case of the new Brabus 850 6.0 Biturbo “iBusiness” sedan, the impressive power of the car goes hand-in-hand with pretty much every goodie from Apple.

On board the car uses a roof-mounted 15.2-inch colour TFT screen as a central display; an iPad mini can also control all functions of the car’s COMMAND system and is connected to a Mac mini computer that is trunk-mounted. An iPod touch is there to supply the music.

Of course, just making it Apple-friendly wouldn't have gotten Brabus to where they are. The 850-6.0 Two turbochargers with a large compressor and tuned-up exhaust manifolds force air in and out. An intake pipe made of carbon fiber scoops atmosphere from the outside. Upgrades include tires capable of handling the speeds this car is capable of reaching. The SV12 R Biturbo 800 can be equipped with BRABUS Monoblock wheels with diameters ranging from 19 to 21 inches. The BRABUS high-tech brake system is part of the package for the Biturbo 800. The brake features 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers and 380 x 36 mm vented and cross-drilled discs in front. On the rear axle it's got 355 x 28 mm discs and six-piston aluminum fixed calipers.

The hefty sedan pumps out 850 hp at 5,400 rpm and 848 lb-ft of torque.  A modified version of AMG's SpeedShift MCT seven-speed transmission forces power to the rear wheels. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes just 3.5 seconds, half a second faster than the stock S63 AMG. The car also gets to 200 km/h in as little as 10.3 seconds, close to the time some cars in its category take to reach the 100. Top speed is pegged at a whopping 217 mph / 350kmh. Like previous Brabus tuned vehicles, the 850 has a dual-mode exhaust, one mode for sport and one for coming home.

The BRABUS SV12 R Biturbo 800 may just be the ultimate car, transforming the S-Class sedan into the world’s possibly most powerful luxury sedan.
