Spark-Renault SRT_01E debuts in Frankfurt

The mighty expected Frankfurt Motor Show has finally opened its gates. These days the auto news will continuously flow from the German city. Updated cars, innovative technology and brand new concepts will come to light. The Spark-Renault SRT_01E fully-electric, single-seater which will compete in the inaugural FIA Formula E Championship has just been introduced on the occasion of the event.

The Spark-Renault SRT_01E is design and manufactured by the Spark Racing Technology. Its chassis is produced by Dallara from carbon fiber and aluminum, mixed up together in order to submit to the rules required by the 2014 FIA crash tests. McLaren Electronics Systems is the company that offered the electric engine, the transmission system and electronics. Williams Advanced Engineering provided the design, battery supply and the battery management system. As we can notice, many great names have teamed up to create this car, so it must be a success. The innovative technology used on the vehicle follows the best environmental practices, highlighting the potential of the Formula E Championship to spark a revolution in the development of new electromobility systems, not just for motorsport but also for everyday use.

The Spark-Renault SRT_01E generates 268 bhp (200 kW), but only 180 bhp (133 kW) are permitted to be used during races. The car sits on a set of 18 inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin rubbers. These have been specially created to be used on dry and wet conditions. Renault has the job of puzzling all the pieces in the perfect manner to give a great start to the racecar. It will be nice to observe it on track.
