GM wants to offer a new turbo engine by 2016

In case you were wondering what the Detroit-based carmaker General Motors is working on, we have some answers for you. The information we have received is great and involves both the Chevrolet and Cadillac brands. Both have actually some important elements which are common and the situation is actually quite good. As it turns out, concerning Corvette, specialists plan to introduce a new, more powerful version of the 4.5-liter twin-turbocharged and direct-injection engine. These are the options available GM offered for the Cadillac Elmiraj Concept in August. Of course, the plans are for the near future and the two engines are not available yet. According to our sources, the new V8 will be used in the successor of the Z06, which will be called the Z07. In the Elmiraj, the engine will produce an estimate 500 horsepower. In the Corvette, the same one will push the limits and will reach an output of 600 horsepower, which by the way, have not been confirmed. Apparently, engineers have developed a concept version of the Elmiraj and it is planned to be released soon. There other models that might receive the same engine and here we are talking about the Audi A8/S8, Mercedes-Benz Class and BMW 7-Series. Sedan models will be equipped with a new 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, but also with a 3.6-liter turbocharged V6. The output for the CTS V-Sport can reach 420 horsepower.
