The Mulsanne Convertible Concept was revealed last year during Pebble Beach Concours d`Elegance. It now seems that the concept will not obtain the green light to be headed for production, fact which is confirmed also by Bentley`s CEO Wolfgang Schreiber.

Schreiber informed that even though the sketches were ready for the production version, the demand seems to be close to inexistent on the majority of the markets that the car manufacturer targets. Bentley`s CEO stated during a recent interview for Car & Driver that `The demand for a Mulsanne convertible is just regional` and firmly concluded that `We will not do that car`. Schreiber offered further explanations informing that actually producing the vehicle will not be profitable for the company. Selling a few units on a small number  of markets (such as the USA) will not bring any joy to the company`s profits.

The convertible auto was only revealed in sketches.Details about the, at time being, to come version are quite limited. It was expected for the auto to be powered by  V8 6.75 liter engine with an output of 505 hp (377 kW/ 512 PS) and 752 lb-ft (1020 Nm ) peak torque.

The Mulsanne Convertible concept was designed to be more driver-focused than the sedan version, designed to offer a more pleasant traveling experience for the passengers. Car & Driver informs that only 1169 Mulsannes were sold in 2012, therefore, the costs of actually producing a convertible version which is not really demanded by any major market would be to no avail. The convertible version`s pricing was thought to be around 250.000 pounds, thus 25.000 pounds more expansive than the sedan variant.

In spite of the latest news, the manufacturer`s future plans feature designing a new crossover which will hopefully become more popular.
