It is something about them which might be the fact that their fast or maybe the fact that they look incredible, either way, their prices are incredibly high, but this is not an inconvenient, at all. To be really specific, there is a man that was capable of spending $52 million for a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO racecar, which you can see in the photo gallery below. The man who sold the masterpiece is Paul Pappalardo from Creenwich, Connecticut. He sold it is total silence and the new owner does not want to be know. To be really hones, the 250 GTO is the most expensive car ever sold in the world, except the ones that have not been made public, if they exist. The former owner has it since 1974 and he restored it and used it in a lot of races, including the 2002 edition of the Le Mans Classic. When reported asked him to tell them details on the price, the man refused to make any comments. The $52 million dollar price represents a 49 % increase on the previous record for any car which was set last year in June for $35 million on a Ferrari 250 GTO as well. Why was it so expensive then? Well, only 39 units have been created. The models come with a 3.0-liter V12 engine capable of generating 300 horsepower. To transfer all the output to the road, the engineers have offered a 5-speed manual transmission which enables the car to accelerate and reach a top speed of 280 km/h. Prices for rare Ferraris continue to grow by up to 15 % each year.
