GM plans different powertrains for the SUVs

General Motors is an American company with a remarkable history behind. And the people there try to do the best to keep up pace with the fast changes that occur in the world. The company is passionate about designing, building and selling the best vehicles in the world. So it is a must have to enter the current trend according to which a respectable brand needs to have as many different vehicles as possible.

The SUV market is blooming day by day and General Motors is already a famous utility vehicles producer. The company’s intentions are to offer their SUVs with a number of different powertrains in the future. GM has already announced the plans according to which models such as the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe/ Suburban, the GMC Yukon/ Yukon XL or the Cadillac Escalade will be powered by 5.3 and 6.2 liter V8 engines. However, the officials offered a hint to the car fans when stating that a few interesting powertrain technologies are to be introduced in the following years.

It is more than obvious that the GM officials refer to diesel versions and more than that to hybrid variants of their SUVs, especially because the hybrid age is on the run. Until then, they are closely watching the opponents, one of them being Jeep, which is preparing to introduce the Grand Cherokee Diesel in the U.S. The future engine configurations are a mystery but the SUVs will get an eight or ten speed automatic transmission. What GM actually reserves to the automobile lovers, only time will tell.
