A few days ago, BMW have introduced the new 4 Series Convertible which is to be showcased next month during the Los Angeles Auto Show (22 November – 1 December 2013).
The manufacturer envisioned the new BMW 4 Series Convertible as the beginning of a `new era` for high end medium sized convertibles although the public`s reactions did not meet their expectations. The public decided that the design brings no novelties and that the car looks just as expected for a BMW. The 4 Series Convertible`s styling cues are strikingly similar to the 4 Series Coupe`s ones, even though the vehicle was released to replace the 3 Series Cabrio and everybody was waiting for something new design wise.
Domagoj Dukec, BMW`s design manager informed that the 4 Series Coupe`s sporty design is more accentuated than in the 3 Series case. Also, the design was set to stress the statement `boat character` that all modern BMW convertibles share. This `boat character` idea is expressed through the long rear deck featured by the vehicle.
The BMW 4 Series Convertible will be available in 4 trim levels M Sport, Luxury and Sport for the United States market. For the European market, the manufacturer also added the Modern trim level. The vehicle is programmed to hit American dealerships early 2014 with prices starting from 55.825 UDS for the 435i and 49.675 USD for the 428i.
The auto can be powered by three types of engines. The first option is a 2.0 liter four cylinder motor outputting 245 HP (180 kW) and a 350 Nm (250 lb-ft) peak torque. The second engine type is a 3.0 liter six cylinder producing 306 HP and a 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) peak torque and the third choice is the 2.0 liter four cylinder diesel producing 184 HP (135 kW) and a 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) peak torque.
