Honda Insight and CR-Z facing the axe in Europe

Rumors have it that the Honda CR-Z and the Honda Insight could be axed on the European market due to the low volume of sold units. Based on the discussions had with a one of the company`s insiders, a well known British automotive e-magazine informs that the models will be dropped in Europe until the arrival of the new models generation. This decision was taken due to the slow sales of the models.



The CR-Z was unveiled during the Indonesian Motor Show before being showcased in Paris in September 2012. The model was designed as a facelift for the hybrid vehicle, thus it came with few modifications on the outside and inside. The auto is powered by an optimized 1.5 liter gasoline motor which raised the HP output from 114 (84Kw) to 121 (89 kW) compared to the hybrid. The electric motor system uses a lithium- ion battery and outputs 20 HP (15 kW). Due to the combined output power of 137 HP (101 kW) with a 140 lb – ft (190 Nm) the Honda CR-Z goes from 0-100 KM/ h (0-62 mph) in 9 seconds. The vehicle reaches a maximum speed of 200 Km/ h (124 mph) with  116 g/ Km CO2 emissions and a fuel consumption of  5 liters/ 100 Km (56.5 mpg UK).



The Honda Insight is powered by a 1.3 liter i- VTEC motor and also an electric engine. Their combined output power is of 102 HP (75 kW) and a 200 Nm (147 lb - ft) peak torque. The auto was launched during the KLIMS 2010 edition as the most accessible hybrid in Malaysia. The Insight`s power consumption is of  65.7 mpg UK (54.7 mpg US) and it`s CO2 emissions rate is of 116 g/ Km.
