Mazda 3 SKYACTIV- CNG concept planned for Tokyo

Mazda is the company whose target is to become a premium brand in the hearts and minds of the customers. Mazda has developed its business by manufacturing cars that are fun to drive. In order to continue offering customers the same great driving experience, they set a goal in designing cars that also provide excellent environmental and safety performance. One of these vehicles is previewed by the Mazda 3 SKYACTIV- CNG concept which is planned to debut at the Tokyo Motor Show.

It hasn’t been long since Mazda introduced a hybrid version of the Mazda 3 but this doesn’t seem to be enough for the company which highly considers its fans opinions. In November, Tokyo Motor Show will be the host of some premiers. And one of them is the Mazda 3 SKYACTIV- CNG concept. The vehicle is special because it can run not only on gasoline but on compressed natural gas, too, as the name clearly suggests. Vehicles with CNG engines reduce emissions by about 20 per cent compared to those with gasoline engines of the same displacement.

Just a few changes were necessary for the concept, since the regular Mazda 3 already has a high compression ratio which is necessary since CNG engines burn fuel at a higher pressure and, as all the latest Mazda models, it is equipped with the SKYACTIV technology. For the time being this vehicle remains only at the concept stage but it is very likely to enter production because the demand for CNG powered vehicles is continuously increasing.
