Aston Martin might use a Mercedes-Benz AMG platform

British carmaker Aston Martin is trying to everything in its power to bring back to life the Lagonda brand, which had great importance in the past. In a way they did it thanks to the concept model that carries the same name, but which at some point it has been underpinned by a Mercedes-Benz GL platform. We are not sure if this was the best idea in the world, but in the end it was one, so it is not that important now. Different specialists try to underline the connection there is between Aston Martin and Mercedes-Benz, AMG in fact, which goes way back. Apparently chances for the Aston Martin Lagonda SUV to come back to life are very big and the platform might be brought from Germany. The CEO of the British company declared for the press that there are a lot of elements that can be discovered between them and the German company. Nothing is for sure yet, but chances are the new SUV might enter production starting with 2017 and it might use the platform of the next-generation ML. To be sure the model will be a success it has to receive a very powerful engine that is also efficient, but not very costly. Just to help you understand better what this means, you should know that China, for instance, taxes engines over four liters in an embarrassing way, which means that as an owner of a car equipped with an engine that is over four liters will have really high costs. The good news that came from Mercedes-Benz referred to the fact that the 6-liter V12 still has a lot to do and so it will not be replaced soon.
