Mitsubishi reveals its three new concepts prepared for Tokyo

Mitsubishi is an auto manufacturer that has always had success with its creations and that feels the need to keep pace to the trends relating the auto world. The officials have just revealed three new concepts which will have their debut at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, at the end of November. The first concept will be called Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept and it seems to be a SUV. The second concept is named the XR-PHEV and the third one, the AR. The three concepts preview the Japanese carmaker's new design identity.

The Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept represents the new idea of a Mitsubishi SUV and as the images show, it doesn’t seem too attractive. At least it’s a bit eco friendly, having a plug-in hybrid system with a V6 3.0-liter supercharged engine that works together with a high-output motor, an 8-speed automatic gearbox and a high-capacity battery. The Grand Cruiser features a full-time four-wheel drive system. The second vehicle, is the so called XR-PHEV, which is supposed to represent a future compact SUV. The Cross Runner is powered by small direct-injection 1.1-liter turbocharged engine and a high-efficiency motor coupled to a high-capacity battery. So the Mitsubishi environmental politics is still being kept with this concept.

Besides the SUV market that is clearly Mitsubishi’s main target, the third vehicle to be introduced at the Tokyo Motor Show is a next generation compact MPV. It is called the AR (Active Runabout) concept and it perfectly mixes the features of an SUV with those of an MPV. The trend is kept with this car, too. It is also powered by a hybrid system, the same that XR-PHEV will be using. Let’s wait for some critic opinions on these three vehicles that want to surprise Tokyo.
