Quanta released an add-on kit for the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6). The add-on hybrid kit brings an impressive output enhancement to the engine, bringing it to an outstanding 770 HP (556 kW).
It`s interesting to observe how Quanta strives to make a difference on the auto tuning market as most of the tuning houses focus to increase the fuel efficiency. Quanta on the other hand, tried a different approach and released a hybrid kit designed to enhance the Chevrolet Corvette Z06`s performances.
As a reminder, the Z06 was intensely criticized for its HP/ liter output as the vehicle is equipped with a V8 engine with an output of 505 HP (377 kW). The company thus identified the opportunity and offered a very non-traditional solution completely ignoring the possibility of adding a turbo kit which was more at hand.
While the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 kept its initial 505 HP (337 kW) LS7 engine, Quanta also added two electrical motors in order to boost the auto`s performances. The two YASA 750 axial flux electric motors are positioned into the rear differential. The motors` power is generated by a lithium polymer battery pack with a capacity of 11.3 kWh which recharges during driving or can alternatively be recharged externally. Each of the two electric power plants has an output of 134 HP (100 kW).
Due to Quanta`s add-on hybrid kit, the Corvette Z06 delivers an outstanding output of 770 HP (574 kW) and has peak torque of 2.034 Nm (1500 lb – ft). Owner and chief engineer of the auto, Gary Whiting offered estimated details concerning the tuned car; according to him the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (36 Km/ h) in just 3.3 seconds, also the modified car runs the quarter mile in only 11.3 seconds.
The add-on kit might be the source of new controversies concerning the hybrid`s technology take-over in the super sport autos segment, therefore it is not available for purchase yet. Quanta will only consider offering it after checking the market`s demand.
