Ford Ka gets a second chance

Ford has long ago become a global company with many dealers in the entire world. Partly, this is due to the fact that the brand is trying to move the same rhythm as the world of cars is moving.  One of the company’s vehicles that shook the auto world when it first appeared is the Ford Ka. There are some photos surfacing the Internet representing the Ford Ka concept which has just been revealed in Brazil.

In the end of 2012 the officials from Ford Europe admitted that the small Ford Ka didn’t produce profit anymore. That was exactly the reason why the company decided not to invest money in advertising campaigns for the car. The Ford Ka became a stand alone vehicle. Sales in Europe have gone 20 per cent down to 59,112, while in April 2013 they have decreased by 27 per cent to only 18,824 units sold. Everything seemed to announce that the Ka is going down. So, the new concept comes as a surprise to all these figures and it is obviously another chance, maybe the last one, for the little vehicle to do a good job. The concept previews a future production model that will be introduced as a 2014 year model.

The Ford Ka concept doesn’t bring any surprises. It features the same front grille which reminds a bit of the Aston Martin branded vehicles, all the typical Ford elements and it is on the whole, a shrunken Fiesta. According to the rumours, the car will be powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.0-liter three-cylinder producing 80 HP (59 kW) and by a 1.5-liter engine developing 111 HP (82 kW) when running on ethanol and 107 HP (79 kW) when using gasoline. The future production model will target only the Brazilian market and depending on how well it is received, Ford might bring it to Europe, too.
