Mercedes Benz is thinking of a new power plant for the E-Class

Germans from Mercedes-Benz are now doing a very good job developing a new product. We are actually talking about a new range of in-line 6-cylinder engines. This will actually be used on the next-generation E-Class. Mercedes-Benz has been known for their straight-six engines which have become a hallmark for all their vehicles. Unfortunately back in the 1990s these types of engines have been discontinued and have been replaced by the V6 ones, which seemed to be a lot better. According to different reports, The German carmaker intends to bring them back as the new engine is part of the new modular power train architecture that will also include three and four cylinder units, in case you were wondering. There is no precise date for the official launch of the units, but it might be sometime in 2016 with the next generation E-Class also known as W213. The specialists did not reveal any details on the new inline-six cylinder engines, but rest assure that the Germans will launch a diesel and a petrol variant at the same time for everyone to enjoy. The question remaining is what will happen with the V6. These could be replaced by the new straight-six ones or, the new engines will complete the range.
