Acura RLX Hybrid gets detailed

Acura has been setting new standards in automotive design and engineering for two decades now through bold innovation, a refined sense of aesthetics, and precision manufacturing. The company is developing the 2014 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid which will be introduced on the occasion of the Los Angeles Auto Show. More precisely, tomorrow will be the big day. However, Acura decided to release some details about the car, just a few hours before its debut.

The Acura RLX Sport Hybrid will be powered by a hybrid powertrain that is made of a 3.5-liter V6 engine, a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission (with a built-in electric motor) and an electric SH-AWD system with two rear electric motors. The system is also based on a 260 volt lithium-ion battery and a 47 bhp (35 kW) front electric motor that helps increase the engine’s torque to the front wheels and offers regenerative braking abilities. As a result to this setup, the model has a combined maximum output of 377 bhp (281 kW) and can return 28 mpg city / 32 mpg highway / 30 mpg combined (US).

When it comes to the style, the Acura RLX Sport Hybrid is not original at all. It keeps close to the standard model. Despite this, it gets some new nice elements on the inside.  It features a head-up display and an electronic gear selector which is placed instead of the conventional center console-mounted shifter. The model is also equipped with an infotainment system, a 7-inch On Demand Multi-Use Display and the AcuraLink connectivity system. We’ll definitely find out more tomorrow, so stay tuned.
