Toyota Verso gets a BMW engine

Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese company that has high desires. It has unique ideas to create great cars and to satisfy even the most difficult client. If you are a car lover, you can find everything in Toyota, starting with hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs etc. It surely is one of the most complex brands in the world. Very soon, the company will introduce the Toyota Verso MPV.

Although competition between brands is very tight, it is not unusual for companies to team up, exchange car parts or to develop new projects together. This is the case with Toyota and BMW. The two super familiar brands have come to an agreement at the beginning of the year. The deal is that BMW will offer their 1.6 and 2.0 liter diesel engines that Toyota will be using on some of its vehicles, one of them being precisely our Verso MPV. Besides this, the two names have decided to develop a sports car together, to create a full cell system, to encourage research in lithium based batteries and to focus on lightweight manufacturing technologies.

Coming back to our Toyota Verso, we should say that it will be powered by the 1.6D- 4D variant of the diesel engine borrowed from the Bavarian manufacturer.   The powering unit will produce 110 bhp (82 kW) and 199 lb-ft (270 Nm) of torque between 1,750 and 2,250 rpm with CO2 emissions of 119 g/km. This is a Euro 5 engine, the same used in the BMW 1-Series and the previous MINI. It is being manufactured by the Bavarian marque at their facility in Austria.  The Toyota Verso will enter production in January 2014 in Turkey.
