Volvo finishes the 5.0-liter V8 engine

Volvo designs and sells products and services that aim at high quality, safety and environmental care. The company was shaped more than 80 years ago and has achieved a solid position and reputation worldwide, step by step in time. With the current trend, Volvo is willing to create eco-friendly vehicles. However they have a tradition in the Supercar Championship and this, too, is a main concern. For this, they have just released their new 5.0 liter V8 engine.

The 5.0 liter V8 engine will be used in the Volvo Polestar Racing S60. The unit is inspired by the 4.4 liter V8 engine that powered the S80 and XC90 models. The new 5.0 liter engine has been specially created for racing. No figures were made public yet, but the unit features aluminum heads, eight throttle bodies and a 10:1 compression ratio, as well as a coil-on-plug ignition system and a distinctive sound.

The new 5.0 liter engine has been already submitted to rigorous testing and the figures made the Volvo Polestar officials happy with the product. This is just the first step in a longer process. The next thing to be done is to place the unit into the race car. And then other testing are planned. There will follow other information regarding the matter once the engine truly powers a Volvo vehicle on the race track.
