Audi prepares the R18 e-tron Quattro for Le Mans

Electric and hybrid vehicles seem to gain more room in the auto field. The trend among the car manufacturers is to design and create eco-friendly cars. And Audi, being a top company, cannot skip tendencies. The Audi e-tron family is a series of electric and hybrid concept cars shown by Audi from 2009 onwards. The Germans are preparing an Audi R18 e-tron Quattro to enter the Le Mans competition next year.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the world's oldest active sports car race in endurance racing, held annually since 1923 near the town of Le Mans, France. It is considered to be one of the most prestigious automobile races in the world so the car manufacturers that wish to enter the ring must come up with resistant and competitive vehicles. It seems that Audi is willing to bet on an update done to the R18 e-tron Quattro.

It is no wonder that we will see the Audi team racing again with the same car in Le Mans, as the Audi R18 Quattro has triumphed in the 2013 competition. The vehicle was driven by Loic Duval, Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish. The updated version of the same car meets all the requirements for the 2014 session of Le Mans. It has been specially manufactured for “maximum efficiency”. The vehicle is currently being submitted to some rigorous testing and it is very likely that the beginning of the new year will bring some new information with respect to this matter.
