Ford exec says the Mustang platform could spawn additional models, possibly a Lincoln

For the past few years, we have heard countless rumors regarding the release of a Mustang based Lincoln. Although the public awaits for this amazing car to finally emerge for a quite a now, it is only recently that Ford executives have talked about the possibility of offering such a vehicle.

A few days ago, during the release of the 2015 Mustang, Trevor Worthington, Ford`s Vice President of product Development for Africa and Asia Pacific branch informed that that the current platform could `presumably` spawn a new model. Obviously his statement was received with great enthusiasm and Wortginton was asked for additional details to which he replied that: `If we chose to make a Lincoln version of the Mustang - I can't imagine ever doing that - but if somebody smarter than me decided to do that, then yeah you could use that architecture`. In addition to this, concerning the Mustang, Worthington stated that: `There's a lot we can do with Mustang. I can't talk about the details at this moment, but there's a great heritage we can draw from and I guess I would just say 'stay tuned.`

As a brief reminder, the 2015 Mustang was just launched last week as `a quicker, better-looking, more refined and more efficient` variant of its predecessors. The auto has an agressive appearance and comes with a unique front fascia together with a trapez shaped grille inbetween slender headlights. In addition to this the car features a sculpted hood, three dimensional tailights and a multi layer insulated top clotch designed to maintain the quietness of the cabin.
