Hyundai launches the i20 and plans a performance lineup

The main targets of Hyundai are to realize the dream of mankind by creating a new future through ingenious thinking and also to challenge new frontiers.  The latest task they accomplished on their way to reach the already mentioned goals is the 2014 Hyundai i20 WRC which has just had its official debut at a special event in Frankfurt. At the same event, the company stated the clear plans of developing an “N” lineup of performance road models.

Despite the rather obscure past, Hyundai Motorsport has set realistic targets for its debut season in motorsport with the main goal of finishing every rally event with two cars. The young team will consider each rally as a chance of gathering vital knowledge and data with the purpose of consolidating its foundations for the following years and competitions. Competing against more experienced WRC opponents, the Korean team has plenty more to learn, but their ultimate aim will be to earn a place on the podium in the future attempts.

The 2014 Hyundai i20 WRC was presented at Frankfurt wearing a WRC livery. Two of the four drivers in the Hyundai team have also taken part at the official presentation. They are Thierry Neuville and Juho Hanninen, while the missing two are Dani Sordo and Chris Atkinson.  We might say that Hyundai has caught two rabbits at the same time. They introduced the “N” lineup at the same event in Frankfurt. This is going to gather the company’s performance models. The first vehicle in the “N” fleet will be a Hyundai i20 that should enter the market in 2015. Hyundai Motorsport has developed from scratch into a fully functioning motorsport team, defying the odds to build, test and prepare two rally cars ready to compete in 2014. So I guess there can be more coming from them.
