Leonardo DiCaprio & Venturi announce plans for a joint Formula E team

Venturi Automobile announced plans to team up with Leonardo DiCaprio, one of the most environmentally concerned actors from Hollywood, in order to compete during the new FIA Formula E Championship.



The Formula E Championship is the first fully electric race car competition and it is set to begin in September 2014. The cars participating in the competition will be one seat electric race cars with speeds `in excess of 225 Km/ h`. The competition will take place in ten selected leading cities including London, Los Angeles and Beijing. Each of the ten participating team will consist in two drivers. The Formula E`s goal is to offer an exciting series of electric vehicle races while at the same time promoting the EV market`s advantages and sustainability.



The Venturi Grand Prix Formula E Team is based in Monaco and its members are Gildo Pallanca Pastor (founder of EV Venturi Automobiles) and Leonardo DiCaprio, Hollywood super star. The team is rounded up by the presence of Francesco Costa and Bert Hedaya. Venturi Grand Prix team`s participation will now be put forward for FIA`s approval to be the tenth team to participate in the Formula E Championship. The confirmed participating teams are: ` IndyCar outfits Andretti Autosport and Dragon Racing, Asia’s China Racing, Super Aguri and Mahindra Racing, and European squads Drayson Racing, e.dams, Audi Sport ABT and Virgin Racing `



Alejandro Agag, CEO of series promoters Formula E Holdings welcomes Venturi`s decision to sign up for the Championship: ` It’s an honour and a pleasure to welcome the Venturi Grand Prix team as the tenth and final team of the FIA Formula E Championship`. Of course, Agag also appreciated DiCaprio`s active participation to the event: ` I want to give a very special welcome to our Championship to Leonardo DiCaprio. Very few environmental leaders have helped more than him to spread the message of sustainability around the world`.
