Volkswagen will sell the Amarok in the US

Now long ago, the CEO of Volkswagen America made a declaration regarding the Los Angeles Motor Show and their Amarok truck and the discussion went in a quite interesting direction. Apparently, the German carmaker is thinking about bringing the Amarok on the North American market. The reason for which the project in being kept behind refers to the 25 % tariff which the US imposed on imported pickup trucks. We are not sure if this is going to be of any comfort, but the fee applies to other commodities as well, such as potato starch and brandy, for that matter. The tariff is also known as Chicken Tax. Different specialists have thought about the fact that this measure may have caused the price for pickup truck to stay at a high, artificial level. Another repercussion is that this measure allowed the local manufacturers free region on the market with no overseas competition. The VW Amarok, on the European market is powered by two versions of the same two-liter diesel engine which makes it very powerful. This model might be a very fearless competitor for the Chevrolet Colorado in US spec, but others from the same size range as well. Things might be a bit different if, for example, Ford with their Transit range starts importing the Amarok as a passenger vehicle. The plans are quite uncertain, but things might change if the tax would be dropped the manufacturer might change its vision on things. We are talking about the proposed freed trade agreement between EU and the US. We will have more details on the matter as soon as changes start to emerge.
