Carlsson introduces a new tuning program for the Mercedes GLK

Carlsson offers a new tuning kit for the Mercedes- Benz GLK. The tuning program was released just after the Essen Motor Show which just took place between the 30th of November and 8th of December. The tuning masters from Carlsson designed new modifications for the facelift variant of the GLK crossover/ SUV.

The famous tuning house waited for the important tuning event to close its gates before announcing their tuning program. Presumably, the company made this choice in order for their tuning kit to get the separate attention that it deserver, rather than getting it lost through other countless releases that took place during the tuning show. However, the press release that Carsson issued in order to inform about the tuning kit is somewhat confusing. The press release begins by stating that the GLK tuning program will be available for purchase starting with January 2014. Furthermore, the tuning company announced that their modifications program will make its world debut during the 2014 Essen Motor Show, which will take place a year from now.

Regarding the tuning program itself, Carlsson envisioned and, by reading their press release, succeeded to offer the vehicle a more aerodynamic body. The modified body kit comes with redesigned bumpers, a chrome plated rear diffuser and a front lip spoiler. In addition to this, the Mercedes GLK tuning kit features LED daytime running light, stainless steel mesh grille inserts, lowering springs, a stainless steel sport exhaust system as well as a sport- tuned suspension. Furthermore, the vehicle can now ride on 19 to 21 inch alloy wheels.

The interior was redesigned with new floor mats, aluminum pedals and illuminated door still plates. For a more elegant touch, the seats can optionally be wrapped in Alcantara or premium leather, or the cabin can feature a carbon fiber or wood trim.

Carlsson also prepared modification for the engine. Its output can be increased by 34 HP and 100 Nm reaching.  The GLK 220 CDI can therefore have an upgraded output of 204 HP and a 500 Nm peak torque.
