Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese company that has high desires. It has unique ideas to create great cars and to satisfy even the most difficult client. If you are a car lover, you can find everything in Toyota, starting with hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs etc. It surely is one of the most complex brands in the world. Very soon, the company will introduce the Toyota Verso MPV. Until then, they have decided to offer a few details about the vehicle.
It is not uncommon for companies to team up every now and then, to exchange car parts or to develop new projects together. This is the case with Toyota and BMW. The two well known brands have come to an agreement at the beginning of the year. The deal is that BMW will offer their 1.6 and 2.0 liter diesel engines that Toyota will be using on some of its vehicles, one of them being precisely our Verso MPV. The MPV in discussion here will be powered by a BMW-sourced 1.6-liter diesel engine that has received some modifications including a newly-developed dual-mass flywheel, revised engine mounts and completely updated electrical interfaces.
The 1.6 liter engine powering the Toyota Verso generates 110 bhp (82 kW) and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque. It works linked to a six-speed manual transmission which allows the car to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 12.7 seconds and to reach a maximum speed of 185 km/h (115 mph). Thanks to a start/stop system, the model averages 62.8 mpg UK combined (4.5 L/100km / 52.2 mpg US) with CO2 emissions of 119 g/km.
The 2014 Toyota Verso features blacked out C-pillars to create the illusion of a floating roof. The model also received fog lights, privacy glass and it rides on special 17-inch alloy wheels. Other options include front parking sensors, a rearview camera and GPS navigation. The price for a unit will be revealed at the beginning of the new year and deliveries will start in March.
