2014 Subaru Levorg tested on track

Subaru, the automobile manufacturing division of the Japanese company Fuji Heavy Industries, has slowly but precisely made a name on the world’s cars market.  It is internationally famous for using the so called ‘boxer’ engine in most of its vehicles above 1500 cc.  Rather conservatory, the company seems to have the desire to surprise the planet. And a great place to start was the Tokyo Motor Show, where the company presented a near-production version of the Subaru Levorg prototype.

The Subaru Levorg will be launched in May 2014 and it will pretty much be similar to the prototype showcased in Tokyo. Just to keep alert the fans, the company has released a video with the vehicle on track. Pre-orders begin on January 4th and the beginning price in Japan is of ¥2,667,600.

The Subaru Levorg will be powered by a new 1.6-liter DIT direct-injection turbo engine producing 170 HP (125 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. There is also a larger 2.0-liter DIT engine available developing 300 HP (221 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). These two engines send output to a symmetrical AWD system through a Lineartronic (for 1.6) or Sport Lineartronic (for 2.0) transmission. The Subaru Levorg is nothing else but a wagon with a pleasant design, called by enthusiasts a “sports tourer”. We’ll get to see its true impact in a couple of months.
