Volkswagen Polo R has a prototype

Germany pretty much got us used to being the scene of a constructive battle between some of the most famous car makers in the world. Each brand tries to be a step forward than its rival. Volkswagen is for sure one of the most important car manufacturers in Germany and in the entire world. And, lately, we might say it has been a rather busy one, developing all kind of new projects. It’s been a long time since VW officials started thinking about a Volkswagen Polo R model, and the idea is still standing.

Rumours about the Volkswagen Polo R model have been going on for some years now. But it seems that a production version has never been closer. Volkswagen allowed the public to discover the prototype that should be the starting point in the manufacturing of the Polo R. The vehicle is supposed to be rated below the VW Polo R WRC Street. The prototype is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that produces 250 HP (184 kW). This configuration allows the all-wheel drive model to sprint from 0-100 km/h in less than six seconds and to reach a top speed of less than 250 km/h (155 mph).

Although everything seems promising, and there is even a prototype, nobody from Volkswagen stated clearly that the model will enter production. If it does, it will be very exciting as the Polo R is assumed to be more powerful than the Audi S1. And this can mean only one thing: the glove has been dropped and the competition will need to make a move.
