SsangYong XLV concept heads for Geneva

SsangYong Motor Company is the fourth largest South Korean automobile manufacturer. Its name means double dragons. And it’s got for sure the attitude, the power and the impressiveness of such a force. The Asian manufacturer has just made clear its plans to introduce a brand new concept, the SsangYong XLV, at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The SsangYong XLV is in fact the new XIV-1 Concept. However, it is distinguished by an overall length increase, the vehicle being now 4430mm long. The extra 290mm allow the car to have a seven seat arrangement in a 2+2+2+1 cabin layout. The seat number seven can slide between the second and third rows in order to provide more room and flexibility inside the cabin.

The SsangYong XLV will most likely be powered by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine that works connected to an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack to create a hybrid powertrain. The SUV concept is 1845mm wide and 1600mm tall and makes use of SsangYong's most recent "Nature born 3 motion" design language. A production version is supposed to be out in 2015 and regarding the way the SUV market moves, it may come as a great success in the segment.
