Nissan GT-R cabrio made by NCE

Newport Convertible Engineering (NCE) was established in 1983 to design and build convertibles that represent the highest standards of automotive design, quality and craftsmanship. By creating unique convertibles of unmatched details, NCE has earned its place as the leader in the convertible manufacturing industry. NCE develops and manufactures soft tops and hard tops for many of the most attractive convertibles in the world, for instance the open top variants of the Rolls Royce, Mercedes Benz, Ferrari, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Jaguar, Lexus, Mazda, Nissan, Pontiac, Porsche, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo and many others.

The latest project coming from Newport Convertible Engineering is the cabrio conversion of the Nissan GT-R. The same company has not long ago made the same thing to the Toyota Prius, Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover. Chopping off the roofs of these cars, the guys working for the Californian company have offered another perspective on classic brands. However, these conversions, including the one did on the Nissan GT-R are available only through custom order.

The Nissan GT-R comes with three different designs which probably are a dual hump behind the driver and passenger, a fixed roll bar and a simpler design without the roll bar. There is no need to say that turning the GT-R into a convertible will add some weight which is certainly not what a person would expect from an already heavy supercar but on the other hand the GT-R will surely be a unique presence on road and all heads are going to be set on it.
