BMW i8 close to production

If you feel like having a great driving experience you have to get on board of a BMW. Sporting and dynamic performance combined with superb design and exclusive quality characterizes the German company headquartered in Munich. BMW has introduced the i8 concept some time ago and now production is about to begin with deliveries promised for June, this year.

The BMW i8 will be powered by a 1.5 liter TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery.   The total power is 362HP (266 kW) and 570Nm (420 lb-ft), which will enable the sports car to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and to reach a maximum speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), which is electronically limited. The fuel consumption is 2.1 l / 100 km (134.5 mpg UK or 112 mpg US with CO2 emissions of 49 g/km. Moreover, the i8 can go up to 37 km (23 miles) only on electricity, which means, of course, zero emissions.

The BMW i8 will be the first vehicle in the world to benefit of the innovative laser lighting technology. The laser headlights are about 30 per cent more efficient than the standard LEDs used on the rest of the vehicle. In addition, they provide more powerful road illumination, ranging up to 600 meters. The laser headlights produce a light similar to natural daylight and are therefore always easy on the eye. The spectacular car is waited by everyone and it will be one of the most wanted vehicles in the world.
