Audi Q5 under development

For the German company Audi, sustainability is an important goal in order to continue functioning economically, protect the environment and guarantee a good future for generations to come. The four rings brand is one of the top and, at the same time, one of the most famous car producers in the world. Starting with SUVs, sedans, coupes they’ve got everything a respectable company needs. And according to the German chiefs they are currently developing the second generation Audi Q5, which is planned to be released in 2016.

The new Audi Q5 will be using the Volkswagen Group's MLB platform which will also be the basis for lots of other Audi models varying from the A4 to the Q7 due later this year. The smaller Q5 is expected to lose about 100 kg (220 lbs) and it will feature many of the technological innovations set to be offered on the upcoming second-gen Q7. The Q5 might also receive the matrix LED headlights, a TT like cockpit based on an ultimate generation digital display, this meaning that the multitude of buttons will be dropped.

The next Audi Q5 will come with four and six cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, as well as a frugal plug-in hybrid variant including an e-quattro system. This setup will use a conventional engine powering the front wheels and an electric motor to drive the back ones, while regenerative braking will be supported. The Q5 will come out by the end of 2016 and will soon be followed by a new Q6.  We’re looking forward to finding out more details with respect to the matter.
