Opel plans some electric vehicles

There is an entire trend of creating eco-friendly cars, so it is not false if we say that we are at the beginning of the electric vehicle’s era. There are plenty of reasons why interest in these vehicles convinced even the most important car producers to enter the trend. Brands like Toyota, BMW, Nissan, Volkswagen and even Ferrari do the impossible to excel in the field of hybrid and electric cars. Opel is one of them and the brand is preparing plenty of new electric models.

The latest news concerning Opel is that the German brand is preparing to launch a battery electric vehicle by 2016 or 2017. Of course that it’s too early to have some details regarding the project but it should be smaller and more affordable than its Ampera counterpart. Opel has had some other attempts of manufacturing EVs. Let’s remind of the Opel Meriva EV prototype which never entered production as well as of the Opel Adam EV which has been dropped off due to high production costs. The rumours also say that the Opel City will be launched in 2015 and it should cost less than 10,000 EUR.
