Peugeot 2008 DKR Race Car ready for competition

Despite its 'rally' name, The Dakar is an off-road endurance race, properly called a rally raid rather than a conventional rally. The terrain that the competitors have to face is much tougher and the vehicles used are true off-road vehicles and not just some modified on-road vehicles used in rallies. Most of the competitive special sections are off-road, crossing dunes, mud, camel grass, rocks and erg among others. So to face this, the competitors prepare awesome vehicles. Peugeot is one of the brands that always enter the rally. They have just revealed their 2008 DKR Race Car, which will compete in the 2015 Dakar Rally.

The Peugeot 2008 DKR Race Car will enter competition driven by Carlos Sainz and Cyril Despres. The vehicle rides on a set of huge 37 inch (94 cm) off-road Michelin rubbers and is equipped with a large rear wing. It is noticeable that the rear doors were removed. There is also a short front overhang to allow a high approach angle. The car will feature a two-wheel drive layout and all the necessary modifications to comply with Dakar’s rules. The Peugeot 2008 DKR Race Car will be presented at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, so there is little time till we’ll get to find out new information with respect to the subject.
