Volkswagen Beetle Dune concept heading for production

The Volkswagen Beetle is a name which takes us way back in history, which allows memories come back to life and which makes us conscious about the way ages change and things together with them, too.  The Volkswagen Beetle entered production for the first time in 1945, although it was designed sooner, in 1930. The Beetle was thought as an economical car and back then it shook the world through its futuristic and unique look. The same shape has been kept over years, and now everybody can recognize the bug at the first sight. The German producer is now preparing to introduce a Volkswagen Beetle Dune concept. However this will happen only in 2016.

The Volkswagen Beetle Dune concept passed the green light that puts it into production version and the German officials prepare its launch on market for 2016. The small hatchback will be offered as a convertible, too and it is believed the pricing will increase by approximately 2,800 EUR compared to the regular Beetle. The rest of the features will be borrowed from the regular version. It will be distinguished exclusively by visual elements.

The Volkswagen Beetle Dune will probably carry the engine lineup found on the standard Beetle. This means we could see the 2.0-liter rated at 210 PS (154 kW) working with a 6-speed dual-clutch DSG, this being the same powering source of the concept, too. This Dune version will be one of the many versions planned by the Germans aiming towards consolidating the Beetle position on the international market.
