Ford Mondeo and the future Lincolns will use the same platform

Since its constitution in 1903, Ford Motor has been a company whose automobiles changed the same rhythm as the world did. The company is present in the entire world, becoming a global organization and an unmistakable brand. The latest news coming from the American company is that their 2015 Ford Mondeo will share its platform with several new models from Lincoln.

Ford’s assistant global line director for CD platform cars mentions in an interview that the suspension and platform were developed in such a way as to match with Lincoln vehicles, too. So this must be a state of the art. Models such as Mondeo and Fusion are based on the global CD4 platform which also works on the Edge SUV, the S-Mac and Galaxy minivans. The first Lincoln to use the new Ford architecture will be the luxurious MKX crossover.

The new Ford Mondeo will enter the European market before the final of the year. The vehicle will have to face real competition coming from the new generation Volkswagen Passat and the facelift Opel Insignia. By June 2013 Ford sold 22,028 Mondeo units while in the first five months of this year 19,000 vehicles have been sold. So, the new Mondeo has the difficult task to raise the level of sellings.
