New generation Volkswagen Tiguan on the works

Volkswagen Tiguan is a compact  crossover vehicle  (CUV) manufactured by the German automaker Volkswagen. All Tiguans feature two-row seating and four-cylinder  engines. The Tiguan debuted as a concept vehicle  at the November 2006 Los Angeles International Auto Show and in production version at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show . In 2011, since the Tiguan has been restyled, more than 700,000 vehicles have been sold worldwide with the greatest sales in Europe, Russia, the United States, China, Brazil, and Australia. Apparently, the German producer is now planning two versions of the next generation Tiguan.

The next generation Volkswagen Tiguan will be manufactured both as a five and seven seater. The first one will most likely be introduced at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show next year. The longer-wheelbase Tiguan should be ready to run a few months later, probably just in time for the Detroit motor show in early 2016. Rumours say that the CUV will be riding the MQB platform with size of the standard model roughly the same as the current generation. The seven-seater will be launched in North America, China and Europe as part of the German brand’s plan to position future models further upmarket.

The Volkswagen Tiguan will come with different engine configurations. We might see a 1.4-liter TSI, a 1.6-liter TDI generating 110 PS (81 kW) and a 2.0-liter TDI with figures varying from 150-184 PS (110- 135 kW). Most options will be available with a 4Motion all-wheel drive system, while a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid is also taken into account. What will certainly happen, only time will tell.
